Dr. Voscopoulos is board certified in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology, Transesophageal Echocardiography through the National Board of Echocardiography, board certified in Addiction Medicine through the American Board of Preventive Medicine, board eligible in Critical Care Echocardiography through the National Board of Echocardiography, and board eligible in Neurocritical Care through the United Council for Neurological Subspecialties. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. During medical school, he completed a prestigious 2-year research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health where he studied molecular genetics. Upon graduation, he completed his internship in Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, his residency in Anesthesia at the University of California San Francisco and Emory University School of Medicine, and his fellowships in Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. While at Harvard University he won the Anesthesiology Department fellow of the year award.
In addition to his medical and research training, Dr. Voscopoulos also completed his Master’s in Business Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Health Sector Finance and Management from Duke University, is a graduate of the California Healthcare Foundation, University of California San Francisco, 2-year Healthcare Leadership Fellowship, and holds a Master’s Degree in Maharishi Ayurvedic and Integrative Medicine from Maharishi University of Management. He is currently studying Law at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
Dr. Voscopoulos is the president of Medical Specialists Associates, a multispecialty multi-state medical group based out of Northern California. He believes in applying the best tools from economics and organizational behavior to create a working environment that naturally brings out the best clinical care at the lowest costs possible. He also strives to integrate complimentary and integrative medical approaches to the management of chronic diseases in the area of pain and addiction medicine. To this end he integrates ayurvedic medicine, acupuncture, medical manipulation, and other complimentary approaches into his practice. He has also patented the Vitality Method, which incorporates, among other modalities, a system of Yoga tailored specifically to the needs of patients with chronic pain.
